WHO WE ARE
On April 2, 2009, the SCCN was incorporated on the island of Curacao as a non-profit foundation dedicated to promote research while enhancing awareness and protection of marine mammals and their habitats. A catalyst for this initiation was the support and cooperation of Mote Marine Laboratory, Sarasota, Florida, and the Central Government Department of Nature and the Environment, MINA, of the Netherlands Antilles.
Key collaborators also include the Eastern Caribbean Cetacean Network, (ECCN), and the Smithsonian Marine Mammal Laboratory, (Washington, D.C.).
Instrumental in the realization of this foundation were Dolphin Academy, N.V. and Public Sea Aquarium, B.V. SCCN is headquartered in Curacao with offices and facilities at the Curacao Sea Aquarium. The SCCN is governed solely by its board of directors.
