Sunday the 10th of August several people and the coastguard confirmed wild pilot whales around Curacao.
They all luckily called SCCN to report these cetacean and hoped that ‘ our’ whale was strong enough to join this group.
The SCCN board hoped for that too but our Mr needs more time to get back into shape! The way he looked almost four weeks ago is hard to believe when you see him no but he needs to get back into condition too. SCCN did start his boat training last Sunday. We started that so he is able to follow our bopat when we see wild pilotwhales to reunite him with his own specie when the time is there but also to get him back into shape and having an good condition to follow that group. Right now he will not be able to so that is why the board decided to let this group pass and hope for another group these upcoming months.
SCCN is very delightful that so many people called and showed they knew about SCCN and the goals they are having with the Jan Thiel Pilot whale. People are more aware about the cetacean in our see and do actually record nice the pilotwhale. We thank everybody who called us and PLEASE, keep calling us when you see cetacean in our see!!
Keep checking this website, soon a small movie about these wild pilotwhales!
